Historical results for Nunavik as our U-18 boys’ team crack the top 10 at the provincial championships

The weekend of the 29-30 of April was high in emotion for our boys’ team. Without having the chance to practice all together before the event, we faced what was probably the toughest pool of the competition on the first day. First up, Sherbrooke! The first ranked team at the tournament.

The guys battled hard, but the opponent was just too strong as six of their players were division 1 college athletes, a team that finished 2nd in Canada. For our three next games, the guys held up their end, but just fell short. Winless in our first day of competition, the boys stayed focus and ready to compete. And we felt they were getting better each game they played. On Sunday, the team went 3-0, even beating Trois-Rivière in our last game, a team that we lost too on Saturday, clinching the 10th position. After a tight first set that we lost, we came back from a 13-19 deficit to push the game to a tie-break. We finished of the game with a 15-11 win in the third set.

We made history on that day, not only by winning our first game ever at a provincial, but also finishing in a top 10 position. Future looks bright Nunavik. So proud of these boys!

Girls’ Regional team to attend the “Quebec Games 2023” in Rimouski

After conquering the heart of the volleyball world at the 2022 Quebec Games in Laval, our girls’ team will be back at it in 2023 in Rimouski. Because of COVID, the Quebec Games will be hosted for a second year in a row. Last year, our team charmed its way through the competition, not because of their results, but with how they battled against more experience athletes. Four athletes from last year’s edition team will be back while the rest of our squad will be brand new at this level of competition. Tryouts will run in early June and our official training camp be held in mid-July just be the competition.

Let’s go Nunavik!
